What is the ASK BOSCO® Index?

The ASK BOSCO® Index is the competitive scoring system within the ASK BOSCO® Competitor Benchmarking feature that allows you to compare your online performance against industry standards and competitors within your sector.

The ASK BOSCO® index score is a measure of your online footprint and how effective you are with investment in organic and paid media channels. An ASK BOSCO® Index score of 400-600 indicates good performance compared to your competitors. Scores above 600 signify exceptional performance, while scores below 400 suggest room for improvement.

ASK BOSCO® Index Score

The ASK BOSCO® index evaluates your, and your competitors’, performance across four key categories:

  • Paid Search – Your website’s traffic, value, market share, and onsite engagement from paid digital marketing efforts. This includes PPC, Shopping Ads, and Display Ads displayed on search engines including Google and Bing.
  • SEO – Your website’s traffic, value, market share, and onsite engagement generated from organic digital marketing activities. This includes search engines such as Google and Bing.
  • Other Digital Marketing – All non-paid and non-traditionally organic traffic sources, including email, direct, social media, and referrals. It looks at onsite engagement metrics and the volume of traffic from these sources to your website.
  • Website Health – Your website’s overall health using Google Lighthouse. Including Accessibility, Google Best Practices, SEO Score, and Performance Score. Metrics such as site speed contribute to generating this score, ensuring a holistic assessment of your website’s performance.

Overall Score Metrics

To better understand your ASK BOSCO® Index Score, it’s broken down into specific Overall Score Metrics, which highlight where your strengths and weaknesses lie.

Your Score vs. Competitors

  • Each metric is measured against top competitors in your industry.
  • If a score is low in a specific area (e.g., Website Health), it signals an opportunity for improvement.
  • If a competitor has a significantly higher score, you can analyze what they’re doing better and adjust your strategy accordingly.

Using Metrics to Improve Performance

  • Focus on Paid Search improvements if your competitors are gaining more visibility through ads.
  • Enhance your SEO strategy to rank higher in organic searches.
  • Improve Website Health for better user experience and conversion rates.
  • Strengthen Other Marketing efforts, such as social media and email campaigns.

By understanding Overall Score Metrics, you can prioritize efforts, allocate budgets wisely, and create targeted strategies to outperform competitors.
