Introduction to Dashboards
A dashboard is a collection of visualizations, reports and KPIs that display key business metrics in a single, interactive view. Dashboards you create can be found under My Reports in the Reports tab. Publicly shared dashboards can be found in the All Reports tab.
Back to topNotes
Notes can be used to add insight into different visualizations, add images and even videos. To create a new note, use the three dots in the top right of your report and click edit.
Click add note. The note will populate the next available space in the open tab. You can move the note around by dragging and dropping it in place.
Notes can have headings as well as text, images, links and tables. You can change the colour and formatting of notes too.
Data Sources in Dashboards
It is possible to integrate multiple databases into the same dashboard.
To see which data source a report is using, click the three dots on the tile and click edit.
In the top left corner you'll see the sources tab. Click the spanner icon to see which source is currently used. To change sources, untick the current source and select the new source and select done.
After you have changed source, you can add metrics and create your report.

Linking Filters Across Data Sources
If you input more than one data source in a dashboard you will need to make sure the filters are linked. To do this, click the three dots at the top of the dashboard and select edit.
Click on the filter you wish to link, in this case we'll use Date.
Click Link Filters and then select the model (data source) you are linking. Only data sources used in the dashboard currently will show here.
Select the filter you wish to link and click apply.
Now, when you adjust the date it will apply to all tiles with those data sources.
Back to topMetrics & Formulas
The metrics available to you will depend on the data source selected. For a comprehensive list of metrics, please see here.
If you want to add a custom metric, you'll need to create a formula. When doing this, be mindful of how to aggregate the data. We'll cover this later in the course however you will notice when you are in edit mode of any visualization the option to add Formulae is shown below the available measures and attributes. So feel free to experiment.
