Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Data Connection
How to connect GA4 in ASK BOSCO & the GA4 model and metrics available:
How to connect:

- Go to the Connections tab
- Click Connect on the Google Analytics 4 tile
- Get taken to Google sign in screen
- Log in to the Google account you want to connect
- Approve ASK BOSCO access to the account
- Select the GA4 property(/ies) to connect
- Connection complete

GA4 data models and metrics available in ASK BOSCO®
Models
GA4 Engagement model

- Date: The day the engagement was recorded.
- Property ID: The GA4 property the data came from. Data source: GA4
- Device: The device your visitors used.
- Default Channel Group: GA4's default grouping for where the traffic came from.
- Primary Channel Group: The property's own primary channel grouping.
- Source: Traffic source - The part before ' / ' in source / medium (e.g. google, facebook). Data source: GA4
- Medium: Traffic medium - The part after ' / ' in source / medium (e.g. cpc, organic, referral). Data source: GA4
- Campaign ID: The campaign identifier from GA4.
- Campaign Name: The campaign your visitors came through.
- Active Users: Number of distinct users who were active in the period. GA4 counts this with a HyperLogLog approximation, so it is exact only at daily grain - Weekly and monthly totals may read high against GA4 due to how the period is counted.
- Total Users: Total number of distinct users. HyperLogLog-approximated like Active Users - exact only at daily grain due to how periods are calculated. Data source: GA4
- New Users: Number of users visiting for the first time. HyperLogLog-approximated, so it carries the same daily-grain limitation as Active Users. Data source: GA4
- Sessions: Number of sessions. (ties to GA4 within about 1%). Data source: GA4
- Engaged Sessions: Sessions that lasted 10 seconds or more, had a conversion, or had at least two page views. Numerator of Engagement Rate. Data source: GA4
- Page Views: Number of page or screen views. Data source: GA4
- Event Count: Total number of events. Additive at every grain. Data source: GA4
- User Engagement Duration: Total user engagement time in seconds. Numerator of Average Engagement Time. Data source: GA4
- Events Per Session: Average events per session, calculated as event count divided by sessions. Computed from summed totals. Data source: GA4
- Engagement Rate: The percentage of engaged sessions, calculated by dividing engaged sessions by total sessions. This metric is shown as a decimal. For example, 0.72 means 72% of sessions were engaged. Data source: GA4
- Event Count Per User: Average events per user, calculated as event count divided by active users. Computed from summed totals; inherits Active Users' daily-grain limitation. Data source: GA4
- Average Engagement Time: Average engagement time per user in seconds, calculated as user engagement duration divided by active users. Computed from summed totals; inherits Active Users' daily-grain limitation. Data source: GA4
- Average Session Duration: Average length of a session in seconds, calculated as total session duration divided by sessions. Computed from summed totals. Data source: GA4
- User Conversion Rate: Percentage of users who triggered a key event, calculated as converting users divided by active users. Shown as a decimal (0.05 means 5%). Computed from summed totals; inherits Active Users' daily-grain limitation. Data source: GA4
- Active Users MoM: Month-on-month change in Active Users, current month versus previous, shown as a decimal (0.1 means +10%). Data source: GA4
- New Users MoM: Month-on-month change in New Users, current month versus previous, shown as a decimal (0.1 means +10%). Data source: GA4
- Sessions MoM: Month-on-month change in Sessions, current month versus previous, shown as a decimal (0.1 means +10%). Data source: GA4
- Engaged Sessions MoM: Month-on-month change in Engaged Sessions, current month versus previous, shown as a decimal (0.1 means +10%). Data source: GA4
GA4 E-Commerce Product model
- Item Category: Top-level product category (level 1).
- Has Viewed Flag: 1 when the item was viewed at least once on this row, otherwise 0.
- Has Added To Cart Flag: 1 when the item was added to cart at least once on this row, otherwise 0.
- Has Purchased Flag: 1 when the item was purchased at least once on this row, otherwise 0.
- Item Category2: Second-level product category.
- Item Category3: Third-level product category.
- Item Category4: Fourth-level product category.
- Item Category5: Fifth-level (deepest) product category.
- Attribution Type: Attribution model applied to the data (session-based, first-user, or data-driven).
- Attribution Type Label: Display label for the attribution model (Session, First User, Data Driven).
- Default Channel Group: GA4's default channel grouping for the traffic source (e.g. Organic Search, Paid Social, Direct).
- Primary Channel Group: Primary channel grouping configured for the GA4 property.
- Source Medium: Traffic source and medium combined (e.g. google / cpc).
- Date: The specific day for which data is reported.
- Item Brand: Brand associated with the product.
- Item Id: Unique product identifier (SKU or item ID).
- Item Name: Product name as shown to customers.
- Item Variant: Product variant such as size or color.
- Item Discount Value: Discount applied to items, in reporting currency.
- Item Revenue Value: Revenue generated from items sold, in reporting currency.
- Items Added To Cart Quantity: Number of items added to cart.
- Items Checked Out Quantity: Number of items that reached checkout.
- Items Purchased Quantity: Number of items purchased.
- Items Viewed Quantity: Number of times items were viewed.
- View To Cart Rate: Share of viewed items that were added to cart.
- Cart To Checkout Rate: Share of items added to cart that reached checkout.
- Checkout To Purchase Rate: Share of items at checkout that were purchased.
- Cart Abandonment Rate: Share of items added to cart that never reached checkout — checkout friction signal.

- View To Purchase Rate: Share of viewed items that were ultimately purchased (overall conversion rate).
- Average Item Price Value: Average revenue per item sold, in reporting currency.
- Discount Rate: Share of gross sales given away as discounts.
- Revenue Per Item Viewed Value: Revenue generated per item view, in reporting currency.

- Medium: Traffic medium, stored in the physical column dim_ga4__channel::medium, e.g. cpc.
- Safe Item Revenue: Item revenue restricted to first_user attribution — a single safe figure that cannot cross-attribution-sum.
- Item Revenue (Session): Item revenue under session attribution only.
- Item Revenue (Data Driven): Item revenue under data_driven attribution only.
- Post-Discount Revenue %: Share of item revenue retained after discounts ((revenue − discount) / revenue × 100). Not a true margin — no cost of goods
GA4 E-Commerce Total and Basket model
- Date At: Calendar date of the recorded activity.
- Transaction ID: Unique identifier for the transaction.
- Attribution Type: Attribution model applied to the data (session-based, first-user, or data-driven).
- Attribution Type Label: Display label for the attribution model (Session, First User, Data Driven).
- Default Channel Group: GA4's default channel grouping for the traffic source (e.g. Organic Search, Paid Social, Direct).
- Primary Channel Group: Primary channel grouping configured for the GA4 property.
- Source Medium: Traffic source and medium combined (e.g. google / cpc).
- Total Revenue Value: Total transaction revenue, in reporting currency.
- Total Shipping Value: Shipping amount for the transaction, in reporting currency. Null for data-driven attribution rows.
- Total Tax Value: Tax amount for the transaction, in reporting currency. Null for data-driven attribution rows.
- Total Transactions Quantity: Number of transactions. Whole number for session and first-user rows; fractional channel-attributed share for data-driven rows (summing to 1 across channels).
- Product Key: Foreign key to dim_ga4__product (item id, name, and variant).
- Items Purchased Quantity: Number of items purchased.
- Item Revenue Value: Revenue generated from items sold, in reporting currency.
- Item Discount Value: Discount applied to items, in reporting currency.
- Item Brand: Brand associated with the product.

- Revenue Per Item Value: Average revenue per item purchased, in reporting currency.
